Many sustainability-related organizations at OSU are organizing separate but interrelated activities in the month of April, and invite you to participate! Learn more below and by visiting the project websites.
Campuses Take Charge - April 2 - May 30
Campus Take Charge encourages students, faculty and staff to try three simple energy-saving actions for one month. Participants can join at any time between April 2nd and April 30th. When finished with their month of energy-saving actions, participants will give online feedback about their actions, and their energy savings are added to the OSU total. After both surveys are completed, participants will receive an exclusive Take Charge Coupon Card featuring local Corvallis businesses. This project is sponsored by the OSU Sustainability Office, the SSI and Energize Corvallis.
SSI Film Festival - April 6, 13, 20 and 27
The SSI is hosting a series of four films to start discussions about some of society's most pressing issues: nuclear energy and waste storage, globalization, and environmentally safe food. Please join us every Friday in April at 6pm in Gilfillan Hall for our films! Each one you attend gets you entered into a drawing to win a gift set to get you on your way to making more sustainable choices! The lineup:
April 6: Into Eternity
April 13: The Economics of Happiness
April 20: The Greenhorns
April 27: Vegucated
Earth Week Celebration - April 21-28
The annual Earth Week celebration at OSU is a week of fun and educational activities geared toward raising environmental awareness and engagement. All OSU organizations and departments are invited to participate and put on events, resulting in a diverse mix of activities and plenty of opportunities to network! The primary sponsors are Campus Recycling and the Student Sustainability Initiative.
MobilizeU - April 1-30
MobilizeU is an international movement of concerned and active college students competing and mobilizing their campuses around acts of green throughout the month surrounding Earth Day 2012. OSU is competing by contributing acts of green such as number of event attendees, number of environmental pledges and number of voters registered. Contributing organizations include Campus Recycling, the Sustainability Office, the Student Sustainability Initiative and the Center for Civic Engagement. If you would like to contribute your individual actions or those of an organization of which you are a part, please contact OSU's MobilizeU coordinator Andrea Norris.
