Cans, Glass & Plastic
Campus Buildings
- Our goal is to have can and bottle recycling bins within two minutes (walking time) of every office or lab. Cans, glass and plastic can be deposited there.
Sorting
Glass:
- Please rinse all containers
and remove lids
- Where applicable, please sort by color
- Labware (Pyrex beakers, pipettes, etc.) is NOT recyclable
- Window glass is NOT recyclable
Tin and Aluminum cans:
- Please rinse cans
- Aluminum foil is OK
- Autoclave foil with minimal amounts of tape
is OK
Plastics:
- Please throw away lids and rinse all containers
- Rigid plastic bottles, tubs, jugs, and jars are OK (includes water/soda bottles, yogurt tubs, milk jugs, etc.)
- We do not accept plastic bags and wrap
- For info on recycling plastics not accepted on campus, please visit the First Alternative Co-Op website
