Campus Recycling

• Bottles (container with opening smaller than body) - beverages, condiments, toiletries, etc
• Jugs (bottle with a handle) - laundry soap, milk, etc
• Tubs (cylindrical container with top larger than base) - yogurt, margarine, buckets smaller than 5-gal, flip off lids of these containers
• Jars (container with straight sides & screw-on lid) - nut butter, nuts, condiments, etc

Instructions: Empty/rinse & place in nearest bin.

Not in this bin: Plastic bags/wrap, plastic to-go containers, plastic coffee cups, plastic utensils, Styrofoam, etc.

If you have regular or large quantities of film/hard/Styrofoam plastics, we may be able to make special arrangements for recycling it. Please visit our Special Recyclables page.

NOT recyclable: Any food contamination, vinyl, mylar (shiny silver), any plastic with metal attached.

• Aluminum and tin cans
• Empty aerosol cans (NO hazardous material)
• Tin containers (mint/cookie/tea/etc tins)
• Aluminum foil is OK
• Metal lids larger than 2" across
• Metal pots, pans, water bottles, mugs, etc (break off plastic and discard) 

Instructions: Empty/rinse & place in nearest bin. Crumple foil into a loose ball. Empty aerosol cans acceptable if contained non-hazardous material.

NOT in this bin: Scrap metal (large items and those smaller than 2" across) can be picked up on special request. Please visit our Special Recyclables page.

• Glass bottles (all colors) - tea, toiletries, alcohol.
• Glass jars - canned food, nut butter, condiments, etc

Instructions: Empty/rinse, detach metal lids (can be recycled separately) & place in nearest bin.

NOT recyclable: Any food contamination, glass labware and Pyrex products, (heat-treated glass is not recyclable), window glass, light bulbs, drinking glasses.

• Gable-top beverage cartons - milk, juice, etc
• Rectangular beverage cartons - juice, soymilk, juice
• Tetra pak - non-refrigerated tofu

Instructions: Empty/rinse & place in nearest bin.

NOT recyclable: Paper coffee cups, paper soda cups, Chinese take-out containers
