List of All Recyclable Items


Item What to do:
Paper, white or color Place in the nearest bagstand; staples, paperclips, & small amounts of tape are acceptable
Newspaper & Magazines Place in the nearest bagstand
Shredded Paper Place in a plastic bag next to bagstand
Paperboard (heavy paper that is not corrugated) Place in nearest bagstand or cardboard cage
Cardboard Flatten & place in nearest marked cardboard container (usually outside your building); pizza boxes ARE acceptable; do NOT place in bagstands
Glass Bottles & Jars Rinse & place in nearest can & bottle bin; NO labware or window glass please
Aluminum & Tin Cans Rinse & place in nearest can & bottle bin; clean foil acceptable
Plastic Containers Rinse & place in nearest can & bottle bin; includes rigid plastic bottles, tubs, jugs, & cups
Books Place in nearest bagstand; hardbound & softbound acceptable; books do not need to be altered before recycling
Packaging Peanuts/Materials Box/bag them, write 'recycle' & place in shipping area or request pickup using our online service request form
Toner Cartridges Collect in a box & call Campus Recycling at 7-2925 or place in a Rapid Refill Ink bin
Electronic Media (CDs, floppy disks, cassettes, VHS tapes & their cases) Place in nearest electronic media bin or request pickup using our online service request form
Batteries Place in nearest battery recycling bin (e.g. the Valley Library entrances)
Scrap Wood & Metal Request pickup using our online service request form; contact Surplus Property at 7-7347 for large amounts
Automobile Oil, Batteries, & Tires Motor Pool (7-4141) recycles these for campus vehicles ONLY

Plastic Tyvek Envelopes

Call 1-800-448-9835 & ask for a free mailer. They will send you a large mailer for depositing all your old Tyvek envelopes. It will have a return postage label which can be used to return it to Dupont for recycling.
