Oak Creek Restoration

This summer the SSI worked to restore the stretch of Oak Creek that runs through the OSU campus.  We focused on removing exotic invasive species such as Himalayan Blackberry and English Ivy, cleaning up trash and debris, and planting native plant species.

Plans for the fall term include the involvement of the Geography 300 class in the planting of eight native species purchased by facilities services from three local nurseries. During the spring and summer terms the SSI will begin watering the new species and removing sprouts in order to ensure the success of the native plants. Dates, times, and locations for fall plantings have not yet been decided; check back soon for more information.
