Who are the Waste Watchers?

Waste Watchers is a joint group between Campus Recycling and the Student Sustainability Initiative whose mission is to engage students and the community in waste reduction at OSU by providing educational programming, meaningful opportunities for action, and empowerment of future leaders.

You can become a Waste Watcher too by volunteering with us (see opportunities below)! Meet some of our volunteers in the video below.

Volunteer Opportunities

Waste Watchers Weekly Meetings, Spring Term 2014

  • Thursdays 6:30-7:30 pm, except in week 8 (moved to Wednesday, May 21 at 6:30-7:30 pm that week). All spring dates: Apr. 3, 10, 17, 24; May 1, 8, 15, 21, 29; and June 5.
  • Student Sustainability Center, 738 SW 15th St
  • All are welcome to drop by our weekly meetings, at which we work on new ways to encourage people to recycle and reduce waste! This term we are working on Earth Week, spring term Repair Fairs and the Res. Hall Move-Out Donation Drive.

Earth Week Community Fair Set-up

  • Tuesday, April 22, 9-10 and 10-11 am
  • OSU Memorial Union Quad
  • We need help setting up for this event, including setting up tables and chairs, hanging banners, labeling tables, etc. Must be comfortable lifting.

April Repair Fair

  • Tuesday, April 29, 5-6, 6-7, 7-8 or 8-8:45 pm
  • Recycling warehouse, 644 SW 13th St.
  • Lend your repair skills at the Repair Fair or help out by greeting or surveying attendees, taking photos, or helping with set-up or tear-down.
  • To sign-up as a repair volunteer: Contact Kyle Reed via email or 541-737-5398.
  • To sign-up as a non-repair volunteer: Use this online form
