University Housing and Dining Services (UHDS) composts all pre and post consumer food waste. Students dispose of their waste as directed at each dining center and it is sorted and composted by trained staff members to reduce contamination.
Eco-Reps- Residence halls that have Eco-Reps offer composting for students in their hall.
2023-24 Composters:
Four composting pails are available to students at the Valley Library near the main entrance and the entry to Java II, and on the third and fourth floors. Composting in the library is hosted by the Waste Watchers Sustainability Club.
All ASOSU Officers and visitors have access to one compost pail inside the Student Experience Center 250 suite.
Student-facing compost is offered in Austin Hall on the first and second floors. The Austin compost is managed by the Sustainability in Business Club.
The Environmental Science Club manages compost pails in the CEOS buildings on campus.
The Basic Needs Center provides many food related resources to OSU students including Healthy Beaver Bags where volunteers prepare meal kits for students and Cooking Classes where students can learn to use different ingredients to make healthy and cost effective meals. The BNC provides composting to student staff and students who visit the center in a 5-gal bucket located in the kitchen.
